How does WP Baseball Predictor work?
Our model combines six advanced sabermetric metrics (wOBA, FIP, Pythagorean Win%, DER, OPS, BABIP) with starting pitcher matchups, bullpen strength, recent team performance, and injury data. These components are weighted and converted to win probabilities using a sigmoid function.
When are picks published?
Individual Picks can appear earlier and refresh before their grading lock. The current baseball scheduler targets its grading lock 5 minutes before each scheduled first pitch; the saved lock timestamp records the actual time. A named probable starter is not guaranteed official confirmation, and late or incomplete input can produce an estimated pick. Parlay uses its separate daily-slate timing.
What do the pick types mean?
Moneyline: Pick the team to win outright.
+1.5 Run Line: The team wins or loses by only 1 run.
-1.5 Run Line: The team wins by 2 or more runs.
What is the difference between an over/under play and a lean?
Every game gets an over/under call. When our projected game total is at least a full run away from the market line, the call is a play (for example "Over 8") and it counts in the O/U record. When the projected total is within a run of the line, the model has no real edge, so the call is published as a lean (for example "Lean Under 7.5"). Leans are graded and tracked separately, but they never count in the headline O/U record.
What is the Pick of the Day?
Our highest-conviction pick, selected using a composite score factoring model edge, market value gap, pitcher advantage, injury edge, and badge bonuses.
What is the Daily Parlay Play?
A full-slate parlay covering every game of the day. The full daily slate targets one final lock 15 minutes before the first scheduled game and is not rebuilt after it is saved. Named probable starters are accepted. Every matchup remains included, even if a starter is TBD; those legs carry a reduced-confidence notice because the prediction lacks that pitcher information. Once the daily slate is frozen, later starter or lineup announcements do not revise its saved predictions.
How much does it cost?
The calculator normally offers 3 free predictions per day, with the current allowance displayed in the calculator. Day Pass and Monthly cover calculator access; Picks plans include the listed Picks features. Day passes normally end at the next 3:00 AM Eastern cutoff, not after 24 hours. Monthly subscriptions auto-renew by billing period until cancelled. Website prices are shown in CAD unless checkout states otherwise; Apple shows local storefront prices. Where does the data come from?
Team and player stats from the official MLB Stats API. Odds from The Odds API. Injury data from Rotowire. All data refreshes automatically throughout the day.
Is there a WP Baseball Predictor app for iPhone?
Yes. WP Baseball Predictor: Picks is a free download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, with the same daily MLB picks, prediction calculator, parlay play, home-run props, articles and track record as the website. See the iOS app page.
Is my account shared between the website and the iOS app?
Yes. Sign in with the same Google account on both and your pass and preferences carry over. A pass bought in the app works on the website, and a website subscription works in the app.
Can I verify the track record myself?
Yes. Every pick is committed to a public, timestamped GitHub archive before first pitch, graded against the official final score the next morning, and summarised on the Track Record page.
